So work is called on account of snow.
I cannot say I am complaining. However, it also means that I get to work on laundry and cleaning my apartment tomorrow.
Whee? *dry dry dry*
To keep myself busy, both tonight and tomorrow, have a meme I snagged from
ashen_key:
Pick a character I write, and I will give you the top five ideas/concepts/other I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to depicting them accurately. includes both fandom and original RP characters.
Can I also say I hate annual evaluations at work? I am crap at talking myself up without feeling like I am going overboard. *makes face*
Maybe tomorrow will somehow give me new perspective on it!

X-23. I claim her first.

1) Her emotional repertoire is severely limited. Passion is a no-go, depth of feeling needs to be very very shallow. She's damaged.
2) No angst. Bad stuff happened, it made her who she is, she accepts and moves on. She's not actually capable of dwelling on it. The damage was done too early, and there is too much of it.
3) She wants to understand people, even if she does not always want to apply that understanding to herself and how she moves through the world.
4) She is not ashamed of her talents.
5) She knows exactly who she has chosen to be. Down to the letter.
Canon X before Milliways:
1) Her emotional repertoire is severely limited. Passion is a no-go, depth of feeling needs to be very very shallow. She's damaged.
2) No angst. Bad stuff happened, it made her who she is, she accepts and moves on. She's not actually capable of dwelling on it. The damage was done too early, and there is too much of it.
3) She is a weapon. It is simple fact.
4) She does not understand people or why they do what they do, and in general it is not very relevant.
5) She has no attachment to people. Or places. Or things. The mission is paramount.

2) He likes women but has no idea what to do with them, in terms of conversation. That's why he defaults to really shitty pick-up lines and come-ons. They work sometimes!
3) Sam is the most important thing, bar none.
4) He does not fuck supernatural creatures or the undead. Or the dead. When in doubt, nobody gets any action.
5) Cars are an awesome casual conversational topic! So is food.

1) He generally thinks cops are clueless idiots.
2) He is brilliant at putting up a front, esp. with strangers.
3) He does not believe in God. Plus gods in general are bastards.
4) Post-Hell he has a tendency to default toward a desire to make a mess out of people that piss him off. Or get in his way.
5) He believes Sam is fundamentally better than he is.

2) She looks at all women as her sisters.
3) She believes in the best in everyone.
4) She is compassionate.
5) She is the woman that snapped Maxwell Lord's neck to save the world from a mind-controlled Superman, and who killed Medusa, and who has never backed down from a fight she believed was righteous and necessary.

Jordan Black!

1) She loves her mommy and her daddy.
2) She sees things almost all the time.
3) The things she sees are usually people, and they talk to her about the 'real' people she is talking to.
4) Jordan is not generally afraid of what she sees.
5) She wants to help her daddy however she can.

No one has picked Galadan. THIS IS A TRAGEDY.

2) His love is inherently childish. And by this I don't mean shallow, I mean the super-intense all-in kind of love a little kid gives. Where if you reject it, it really is a crushing blow.
3) He cares for his andain as much as any man cares for the (almost) ultimate weapons in his arsenal.
4) He always has plans with in plans within plans. Always.
5) Every conversation is an information-gathering gambit. He should not give away any accidental information and he should never give away more information than he gets, unless I very very clearly know what his end-game is and how giving away info gets him closer to it. And even then, it is probably better not to do that.

6) Has three people he gives a damn about irrespective of their potential future uses: River, Mary Lennox, and Gabriel Tam. Everyone else -- no.

(Also, annual evaluations are THE WORST. They keep wanting me to talk about my future career plans. ;___; How can I say, LEAVE THIS PLACE AND GO BE A PENNILESS AUTHOR?)

All right.
If you MUST.
1) Nynaeve has zero patience for other people unless they are doing exactly what she tells them, right after she tells them to do it. It is hard for her to respect such people, though.
2) She is a secret romantic at heart.
3) She is actually young.
4) She wants to punch every Aes Sedai in the face. Including Egwene.
5) She genuinely cares about almost everyone she has ever met, even the wool-brained idiots that can't keep a thought in their head for two minutes running. Yes, even Mat Cauthon. YES even Moiraine, if you really press her SHUT UP.

1) Anna is an Alpha who doesn't think about herself that way. She has to be in charge -- of herself, at least, if no one else. She is also likely constantly maneuvering both consciously and unconsciously to be in control of more than herself.
2) She used to be a vegetarian and a poet, and hates being a vampire.
3) Daniel is her heterosexual lifemate.
4) She is always armed, usually with a multiplicity of weapons. For Anna, overkill happens to other people.
5) She loves needling other people.

2) She does not respect other supernatural creature-types. Though long exposure will make her tolerant. Ish.
3) Wise-ass T-shirts are a right, not a privilege.
4) The more pissed-off she is the more formal she gets.
5) She loves everyone. Even as she is losing incredible amounts of patience with them. And has very few people skills when she is not faking being human. (And sometimes even then.)

And now, answers!
1) Modern policing is Sam's watchword. HE LOVES FACTS. Hard evidence. Yes.
2) He trusts his gut instincts when he gets them. Other people's gut instincts, not so much.
3) He genuinely likes the 70s, even though he is convinced it is not real. Except when he forgets.
4) He's at his best when he's questioning witnesses that require a bit of delicate handling. He's good at being kind and thorough at once.
5) By end-of-canon-etc, Gene Hunt is going to be his friend.
