My external HD is--refusing to be recognized by my computer. It has a mix of work and personal files on it.
I am very cranky as a result. *sigh* *hopes computing services will be helpful* *does not want to lose giant pile of papers*
Meanwhile, as a distraction (for me, and maybe you too!) have a meme, stolen from hordes of people in the past day or so.
Name a character that you know I write or have written, and I'll tell you:
a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
b. One of his/her best traits.
c. One of his/her worst traits.
d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
e. The story/thread/chapter/post/paragraph/tag/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character.
f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future
Milliways and Wasteland are the primary sources of material, here.

a. I think it was during her dream of dancing with the giant weasel or whatever it was. That was when I was like Wow, her brain is very strange. I wonder why she thinks that? I wonder what in her backstory leads her to look at hunting that way. And boom, when there was space for her at Milliways I grabbed her. *wry* Even if she did not stick around long.
b. I think one of her best qualities is her focus, the narrowing of her intent when she accepts a task, as that one thing becomes the ONLY thing motivating her. It's led her to become who she is, and that's a powerful thing.
c. I think her obsession with hunting has totally rendered her unfit for anything else, and has caused interpersonal difficulties--as you can see from the end of canon. Huge ones. I don't think she'd--even if she had not died, I think she'd always have been on the fringes, and liked it that way. And died 'young'.
d. I never had a very hard time writing Hunter. Getting her to interact with people, yes. Writing her actual responses? No.
e. I think her first post to Milliways showed a lot about her. I think the rescue Door plot was also fairly solid in establishing where she is and was.
f. I have no plans to write Hunter at all, except maybe as an NPC in London Below things. FUN.
and now--
Door!
a. I first fell for Door when she freaked Richard out by talking to the pigeons in his apartment. Poor Richard. Door was just matter of fact. I thought that was awesome. True story! I was sad that there was already a Door when I was thinking of Milliways characters to app, even as I loved what had been done with her.
b. I think one of her strongest character traits is her absolute unconditional acceptance of the kind of choices that are necessary in LB, even as she holds to her own interpretation of those strictures and traditions.
c. I think one of her worst traits is her possessiveness and her protectiveness that can ratchet up REALLY fast and make her a danger to other people, or at least lead her to write people off, essentially. HI MOIRAINE. She needs to make decisions quickly in the Underside, but she tends to hold on to old hurts a bit more than is strictly necessary when it comes to certain people. Poor kid.
d. She's one of the harder pups I have to write, really. Her voice is very subtle but particular, and I really need to be ready to write her unless I'm going to get some random mish-mash of voices and a bland, boring tag. Whee?
e. I think the best of my writing for her was during the Tom-Riddle doomplot thing. And when she took out the Gentleman. *solemn* That's--really defined who and how she is, to me. Those two posts.
f. I have her doing some OOM stuff with Tom right now. And I think we might be plotting an LB something or other sometime. Not the near future, but eventually.
