My external HD is--refusing to be recognized by my computer. It has a mix of work and personal files on it.
I am very cranky as a result. *sigh* *hopes computing services will be helpful* *does not want to lose giant pile of papers*
Meanwhile, as a distraction (for me, and maybe you too!) have a meme, stolen from hordes of people in the past day or so.
Name a character that you know I write or have written, and I'll tell you:
a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
b. One of his/her best traits.
c. One of his/her worst traits.
d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
e. The story/thread/chapter/post/paragraph/tag/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character.
f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future
Milliways and Wasteland are the primary sources of material, here.

b. I think one of her best traits is her stubbornness and her ability to stick by her convictions. I think it's been important for her as a cop, and then as a cop with a sister who is a criminal and a Slayer. Balancing that--I imagine (and imagined) she'd have an interesting time with that kind of thing. And I think it really did help her get to where she is from her position as a slum-kid with two younger siblings to support.
c. She is shit at compromise--it takes very drastic and irrefutable circumstances to make her even THINK of backing down, and even then it's like pulling teeth with your hands. It's caused her a lot of trouble and personal heartache, in the bargain. Moron. *pats her*
d. Early on I found Erin very easy to write. Her dialogue was looser than in the book, in Milliways, because I imagined her going back to her roots while there, because she wasn't on duty. It got harder as time went on, though, and I never could pinpoint why. I think a lack of direction and access to her Life's Work may have been a large part of that. She's not sure how to define herself without it, and I never did find a good substitute. Because Milliways security, while good for play the way it is, drove her UP A WALL.
e. I think a couple of the early threads with Mel and the arresting thread with Parker (I think it was Parker) and whoever else--I think that last one was the first time I really got to write Erin as the cop I thought she had been. Letting a little of that street-tough person spill out around the edges. It was fun.
f. I have no firm plans to write Erin any time soon, that I know of. I dropped her at Milliways, and I'm not going to pick her up. But I have volunteered to NPC her if people need/want, so we'll see.
