Mom was in a car accident tonight, on the way home from her friend's house.

She's okay, just really freaked out. Some lady, who was lost, ran a stop sign and smashed into the rear of my mom's car, spinning her around in a 180.

Mom thought she was going to die. She was a mess when she called us, but she's better now. I have made her sit down with tea and a heating patch on her neck (she has had serious neck problems in the past and I bet she got some kind of neck muscle stress during the whole thing), but.

I still worry.

But it could have been really bad. So.

*breathes*

I just wanted to share.

Oh, I've had that happen. I thought for sure I was going to die too.

...and then I got out of my '84 Celica, realized it's steel body was barely dinged, and the little fiberglass cars were smashed to shit, and I was fine.

Still, a lot of what-ifs got asked, and my boyfriend nearly died upon hearing it.

Oh, honey. *Hugs*

Even if everyone's totally fine, that's always a shock. I'm really glad she's all right.

!!!

I'm so glad she's just shaken, and not worse. Still, oh damn, that is never a good call to get.

It's a bugger that anything had to happen to her, but yes, excellent that it wasn't all the things you're imagining (and very understandable that you do think of the alternate scenarios...)

But it sounds like you're taking great care of her, which I'm sure she's thankful for too.

As someone whose dad has been in several car accidents (one fairly nasty), I know how you feel. And I am really glad that your mum is okay.

*hugs tight* I am very glad that she's not hurt, and proud that you're taking good care of her.

I know we haven't gotten a chance to really chat or anything yet, but I hope everything is okay! :( That stuff can be stressful as hell.

Oh, honey. *hugs and tea and chocolate and all good things, stat*

I'm so sorry that she had such an awful experience, and that you all had such a scare, and I'm really glad she's okay.

Let me know if there's anything I can do. I have the phone with me.

Oh no! That is so scary.

I'm glad she's okay, if shaken and stirred. I know you're a little shaken up, too.

Oh, dear -- good thoughts to you and your mother, and I'm so glad it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.

Speaking from experience, there's a good chance she's going to be very sore, tomorrow. Don't be worried and don't let her freak out, though, because that's normal. If she has neck issues that this may exacerbate (and even if she doesn't), she should see a doctor and get checked over, especially her neck. It'll help a lot on any insurance claim if she's checked and things are documented now. If there is neck involvement that will need physical therapy or other treatment, the other woman's insurance will be paying for it, so document everything, every sore muscle. She may only need painkillers, but it's good to stay on the careful and prepared side.

It's a really scary thing to go through, whether it's you or someone you love. You sound like you're doing great. I'm sure she'll be fine.
